The August 4 Primary Election is almost here! Whether you plan to vote early, vote by absentee ballot, or vote on Election Day, it's important to know your options—especially if you've already completed an absentee ballot for the Democratic U.S. Senate race.
Here's what St. Joseph County voters need to know.
Vote Early!
Michigan offers nine days of Early Voting before Election Day. Early Voting provides the same secure voting experience as Election Day while giving you greater flexibility.
✔ Vote in person before August 4.
✔ Receive your ballot at the Early Voting site.
✔ Feed your ballot directly into the tabulator before you leave.
The Early Voting location is at the County Training Center, located at 602 E. Main Street in Centreville from July 25 through Aug 2. Weekday hours are 7 AM to 6 PM and weekend hours are 9 AM to 5 PM.
Have an Absentee Ballot?
You don't have to mail it if you don't want to. You may:
Return it to your city or township clerk's office.
Bring it to your polling place on Election Day and insert it into the tabulator yourself.
Take it to your Early Voting site and cast it there.
Already Voted for Mallory McMorrow?
Because Mallory McMorrow withdrew from the Democratic U.S. Senate primary after many absentee ballots had already been mailed, some voters have asked whether they can change their vote.
If you already returned your absentee ballot: The deadline to spoil and replace that ballot was Friday, July 24, and has now passed.
If you completed your absentee ballot but have NOT returned it: you must take it to your own city or township clerk to have it spoiled and receive a replacement ballot by 4:00 p.m. on Monday, August 3. This process cannot be completed at the St. Joseph County Early Voting site.

“How do I register to vote within 14 days of an election?”
You can register to vote and vote in person up until and on Election Day by 8 p.m. at your city or township clerk’s office.Find your local city or township clerk.
If you are planning to vote early and are not registered, you MUST register to vote at your city or township clerk’s office before coming to the Early Voting site to vote.
You’ll need to bring your proof of eligibility and residency.
To be eligible to register to vote you must be:
A Michigan resident (at the time you register) and a resident of your city or township for at least 30 days (when you vote)
A United States citizen
At least 18 years of age (when you vote)
Not currently serving a sentence in jail or prison
You must show proof of where you live with documents showing your name and current address. You can show a digital copy of documents. Acceptable documents include:
Michigan driver’s license or state ID
Current utility bill
Bank statement
Paycheck or government check
Other government document
Take your like-minded friends, family and neighbors with you!
